{"id":608,"date":"2010-02-05T22:00:39","date_gmt":"2010-02-06T03:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/strathconn.com\/lady\/?p=608"},"modified":"2010-02-05T22:00:39","modified_gmt":"2010-02-06T03:00:39","slug":"its-a-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/strathconn.com\/lady\/2010\/02\/05\/its-a-process\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s a process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/orgjunkie.com\/\">Organizing Junkie<\/a> has some pretty good ideas about how to organize.\u00a0 I am going to use many of her hints and suggestions for tackling my project.\u00a0 First I looked at her <a href=\"http:\/\/orgjunkie.com\/2007\/06\/how-to-get-organized-follow-these-process-steps.html\">PROCESS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I have created a simple acronym to allow you to break down your organizing project into simple, straightforward steps that will help you stick to your plan and achieve optimal organizing results.<\/p>\n<p>By following the <em>PROCESS<\/em> steps below anyone can conquer any space of any size. The steps allow you to do one or all at a time depending on the time you have available for the task.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Each letter of PROCESS is a step in organizing.\u00a0 Hopefully I will see results with this PROCESS and be encouraged to do it again.<\/p>\n<p>First up is P:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Plan of attack<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/orgjunkie.com\/2010\/02\/plan-to-organize.html?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ImAnOrganizingJunkie+%28I%27m+an+organizing+junkie!%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader\">plan your project<\/a> \u2013 which area(s) do you want to address \u2013 make a list \u2013 evaluate present system, what is working, what isn\u2019t working, devise new system \u2013 determine budget \u2013 develop timeline<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>To get this part started she suggests asking the following questions that she found in an <a href=\"http:\/\/housekeeping.about.com\/od\/getorganized\/a\/organizeplan.htm\">article<\/a> on About.com written by Sarah Aquirre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. What do I want the purpose of my room or area to be?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A bedroom for my son, born May 16, 2009, who has been sleeping in a cradle in our room since birth.\u00a0 I want it to be a place for him to sleep, play, and keep his books, toys, and clothes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. What do I need in or near the room to serve that purpose?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Crib, dressers, toy storage, book storage, rug, lights.<\/p>\n<p><strong> 3. What can I remove from the room?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All our crap.\u00a0 CDs, books, luggage, electronics, tools, old linoleum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. What problems do I see with the room?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not enough plugs, no window dressings, ugly wallpaper, holes in the walls, old leak on the ceiling, mess, mess, mess.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. What organizational tools might solve those problems?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Add more plugs, get room darkening blinds, bookcases, storage boxes, hanging shelves.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. What habits need to change to solve the organizational problems?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>everything<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. What kind of a budget do I have to work with right now for storage solutions?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not much of one.\u00a0 We really only still need paint and repair materials for the walls, a rug, a ceiling fan\/light, blinds, and bookcases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. What kind of a timeline is necessary to organize the room? <\/strong><em>(28 days!)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We are getting a little bit of a late start in the month, but I hope to have the room cleared out enough to move my little guy&#8217;s crib in by the beginning of March.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. What is my plan of action?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Spend a few days emptying the room.\u00a0 Sort through the items in the room and make keep, store, donate, and trash piles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10.
