I am kicking off my renewed interested in blogging.\u00a0 I know I am not the most interesting writer, but I am going to try.<\/p>\n

When I was in high school a friend gave me a book called 14,000 Things to be Happy About<\/a>.\u00a0 I started a list of my happy things<\/a> in 1993.\u00a0 When I stopped I had 223.\u00a0 I doubt I will ever get to 14,000, but I thought I might try to hit 1000 in my lifetime.\u00a0 I added to the list last year, and then again last night.\u00a0 Here are my latest additions that make me happy:<\/p>\n

  2. my baby\u2019s smile<\/li>\n
  3. walks on a perfect summer day<\/li>\n
  4. bagpipes in the distance<\/li>\n
  5. crisp fall days<\/li>\n
  6. my students doing well<\/li>\n
  7. back pain-free days<\/li>\n
  8. homemade apple pie<\/li>\n
  9. fresh macaroni and cheese<\/li>\n
  10. new books<\/li>\n
  11. computers that work consistently<\/li>\n
  12. having a president of color<\/li>\n
  13. the freedom to speak out against your government without fear (even if you are stupid)<\/li>\n
  14. watching my husband take care of our son<\/li>\n
  15. sleeping late while my husband takes care of our son<\/li>\n
  16. car trips<\/li>\n
  17. leaves changing color in the fall<\/li>\n
  18. maple cotton candy<\/li>\n
  19. comfortable shoes<\/li>\n
  20. going barefoot<\/li>\n
  21. fresh lemonade<\/li>\n
  22. apple fritters with ice cream<\/li>\n
  23. apple cider donuts<\/li>\n
  24. that first glimpse of Star Island<\/li>\n
