{"id":369,"date":"2009-09-07T11:41:57","date_gmt":"2009-09-07T15:41:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/strathconn.com\/lady\/?p=369"},"modified":"2009-09-06T22:51:45","modified_gmt":"2009-09-07T02:51:45","slug":"labor-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/strathconn.com\/lady\/2009\/09\/07\/labor-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Labor Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>How long were your labors?<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\"><p>I started having irregular contractions Friday morning.\u00a0 Around 11:30 that night they started to become more regular and harder.\u00a0 I started pushing around 9 am and delivered at 11:40 am.\u00a0 So I was going for about 24 hours, but the hard part was really 12 hours.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>How did you know you were in labor?<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\"><p>I didn&#8217;t, for a while.\u00a0 But when I couldn&#8217;t sit down or lie down I was pretty sure that&#8217;s what was going on.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Where did you deliver?<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\"><p>At a hospital, but the &#8220;maternity ward&#8221; is really a Birthing Center.\u00a0 Where the smart people are.\u00a0 Our Lamaze teacher said many times, &#8220;When you start to want to be where someone knows what they are doing, it is time to go to the hospital.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Drugs?<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\"><p>Yup.\u00a0 Well, sort of.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t have an epidural, but the transition contractions were killing me and I had narcotics to help me rest and ease through that part.\u00a0 I would totally do it that way again.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>C-section?<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\"><p>Nope.\u00a0 He was heads down for the last 4 months.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Who delivered?<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I delivered, but I had a midwife who was there to catch the baby.\u00a0 I saw three midwives through my pregnancy and I got just what I needed in delivery, the sweet, funny one to get me through the early stages (3 am -7 am) and the no nonsense one in the pushing part (I don&#8217;t remember a few hours in there).\u00a0 I barely remember my first two nurses, but the two that were there for the delivery were terrific!\u00a0 My husband was there with me the whole time, holding my hand, rubbing my back and holding my leg when I had no strength left.\u00a0 My mom arrived just after 6 followed by my MIL and then my dad.\u00a0 My sister arrived at 11, just in time for the &#8220;good stuff&#8221;.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t think I would want them all there, but in the end it was great.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-376\" title=\"My little guy\" src=\"http:\/\/strathconn.com\/lady\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/IMG_0497-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"My little guy\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/strathconn.com\/lady\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/IMG_0497-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/strathconn.com\/lady\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/IMG_0497-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/strathconn.com\/lady\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/IMG_0497.JPG 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I found this meme on <a href=\"http:\/\/rocksinmydryer.typepad.com\/shannon\/2009\/09\/laborious.html\" target=\"_blank\">Rocks in My Dryer<\/a> and I am so glad I could participate, finally, in one about my baby.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How long were your labors?
