You Should Have a Green Christmas Tree |
![]() For you, the holidays represent tradition and memories. You tend to do things the same way each year. You find your holiday customs comforting. You enjoy all of the sights, sounds, tastes, and smells of Christmas. You can’t imagine getting any joy from an artificial tree. Your green tree would look great with: Classic ornaments You should spend Christmas Eve watching: How the Grinch Stole Christmas What you should bake for Santa: A gingerbread house |
I heard a story on NPR about how to cut down on the number of catalogs you receive and then I read about it on Unclutterer.
I am sure I got 8 catalogs from LL Bean and Land’s End just since Thanksgiving. I was thrilled to think I could cut down on the crap that comes into my house, ’cause believe you me, there is enough crap there already. I went right away to Catalog Choice and signed up. I currently have about 8 catalogs on my list, but I know as they come I will have more to add. The best part of Catalog Choice is that it is FREE! I would gladly donate a little bit each year to keep it going. I will probably add it to my Christmas giving list.
Unclutterer also has several other suggestions (in Mar 2007 and April 2007) about how to cut down on the junkmail in your home. I think I am going to follow them today.
85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don’t get scores that high! Good show, old chap!
Today’s junk mail subject of the day beat out fellow contenders:

Is it really so hard to get a shelf tag right? Especially when the product is right there? I mean honestly.
Meanwhile, this made me remember it has been some time since I have had a Fluffernutter sandwich. (Which my spellcheck doesn’t think is a word, although it doesn’t seem to like “spellcheck” as a word either.)
A couple of years ago, for a “wellness” activity at school someone brought in cheap white bread (probably Wonder) and tons of peanut butter and Fluff. I ate a few sandwiches that week. I may have to get some on my next trip to the store. And PB too, and white bread. It is just not the same with “grind it yourself” PB and multigrain bread.
Someone asked in my Flickr comments if Fluff is really only sold in the Northeast. Can anyone from “away” verify this? I don’t remember looking for it when I was in Virginia and I have never really grocery shopped anywhere else.
Today’s random junkmail subject. It beat out:

Last week we learned about Proper Nouns in Literacy. We play fun games when we learn Proper Nouns. Games that clearly do not teach them anything.
For example:
Me: I am going to name a common noun, a person, place or thing that is just regular. You need to give me an example of a special kind of that common noun that has a capital letter. Like, if I said, girl you would say Sarah. Okay? Name a kind of truck (4 rough and tumble boys and two girly-girls, I thought I was starting easy).
T-man: pick-up
Me: good start, but that’s not a name, that is a type. Anyone else?
Smart boy: garbage
Me: Still not quite. Does anyone have a truck at home? What is the name of the truck?
*crickets*
Girly-girl: I know one. Hess. A Hess truck.
Me: Okay. Let’s move on. How about the kind of car your mom drives?
Smart boy: Mini-van.
Me: Not quite. How ’bout the name of the mini-van?
Smart boy: I got nothing.
We moved onto stores and resturaunts. They are better at that.
Today is our first snow day of the school year. We only get 3 (we got 5 when I was a kid), so I hope we don’t get a lot of snow this year.
I love snow days. Most of my coworkers say they would rather get out a day early at the end of the year, but I would rather have a surprise day off in the middle of the year. I have it in my mind that we are ending school on a certain day, so I am ready for that day. Another day at the end of the year doesn’t mean anything to me.
I have felt a cold coming on for the last few days, and while I have a load of Airborne in the house I have done nothing about it. I slept till 9:30 this morning and I feel so much better. I bet I would feel even better if I took a shower, but I am too lazy.
My day will probably include web time, putting away clothes, scrapbooking, and planning for school.
Again! Thursdays just seem to get s busy for me. After school T and I had a meeting which we followed up with grocery shopping and dinner. I went to pottery and did my glazing. When I came home Best Lady was here and we talked until after 11. It was a great visit, but I am so tired.
Today I am going on a field trip to the Indian House at Old Deerfield. Should be a hoot.
