TV moments I remember

I watch entirely too much TV. I will admit that. And yet…

I have very distinct memories of watching certain shows when I was a kid.

  1. I used to watch Dallas with my parents. I think it was because it was on Friday nights. I remember when they “shot JR” and brought on that guy pretending to be Jock.
  2. When Alex was moving out and Family Ties was ending. That was so sad.
  3. Matthew Perry, as Carol’s friend Sandy who died, on Growing Pains.
  4. The Mermaid, Terri Hatcher, on Love Boat.
  5. Did you see Nancy Regan on Diff’rent Strokes?

1980 – On the season finale of the soap opera Dallas, the infamous character J.R. Ewing is shot by an unseen assailant, leading to the catchphrase “Who Shot JR?”

February 1

We got out of school early today due to ice and snow.  I was home by about 12:30.  I spent most of the rest of the day in this position.  I caught up on blogs, worked on some websites, and just sort of wasted time watching soaps and Monk.

The plow has gone by probably 800 times.  The snow keeps falling off the roof.  O is absolutely freaked out by the noise.

We just watched the season premiere of LOST. It was awesome.  We still don’t know who the Oceanic 6 are, but now we know a 3rd.  I can’t believe we might only get 6 episodes this season.

Today in history:

Cobwebs in my brain

My husband thinks I need to go to bed earlier. Possibly because of the conversation we just had.

image2.jpgWe are watching a documentary on Mary Pickford. They were talking about her early 20s. I was only listening a little and I heard “five full length pictures a year.” I looked up expecting to see a head to toe photograph and wondering what was so hard about that. Yeah…uh…she made 5 full length MOVIES a year. Duh.

It is really cold

Damn it's cold Driving home from a freezing rehearsal, the car registered below zero out. Lovely. I hear tell that it will be at least 50 on Monday. One can only hope.

I don’t like it when it is this cold.

We’ve been watching the final two seasons of Charmed from NetFlix. Last night I said, “If I had to leave everything and start all over, I would move to a warmer climate.” Lord S answered, “Who are you kidding you had trouble moving two miles across town.” I countered with, “No, you aren’t listening. If I had to give up everything to stop fighting demons and all that. I would move some place warmer.” He looked at me so lovingly and said, “You’d be more likely to be fighting demons than moving from Hometown, honey.”

Too hot

Is it wrong that when I watch TV I get mad at people who aren’t dressed for the weather? I am watching One Life to Live (Pennsylvania) and lots of them are wearing jeans. I haven’t worn long pants in 5 weeks. What are they thinking?

The only thing that is worse is the girls in the cute little numbers in the middle of January. No coats, no sweaters, just little tops and dresses. And all my soaps take place in upstate New York and Pennsyvania!

It’s fugly!

louisvuitton42k.jpgI get most of my “news” from The View. I know…I know…everyone has an opinion on Rosie, but I like The View and I am going to keep watching it. Anyway…last week they showed that ugly ass bag from Louis Vuitton. You know the one I mean, the $42,000 bag. The Patchwork Tribute Bag. The one that sold out in less than a week.

9400_detail_1.jpgSo they talked about it on The View last week. The ladies were shocked at the cost and ugliness. Rosie said, sort of off-handedly, she was going to make one, over the weekend, from stuff she found in her craft house. Joy laughed. Joy was still laughing this morning when they showed the picture of Rosie’s and mentioned that the bag was sold out. Rosie has donated hers to be auctioned off on chartiybuzz.com The money will be going to Rosie’s charity Rosie’s Broadway Kids. The bidding is $1,100 at the time of this post.

It’s just as fugly, but at least the money is going to a good cause.

Yang’s Anatomy

So we are watching Grey’s (we is me, T, and our friend EW). It’s 10, because we talked all through the 9 o’clock hour. I saw the look on Christina’s face when the guy (Dr. Marlow) appeared and I started to yell, “she slept with him!” and then he enveloped her.

And Callie is freakin’ rich. We were trying to figure out how much Callie could make as an Orthopedic Resident (between $200K and $300K, as well as I can figure) and then we found out it doesn’t matter. Dah-um!

10:30 I love that Meredith can relate to her “step-mother”, but not her father. And Christina just walked in with her real “fake” emergency. I love the way all these characters can turn any situation into their own personal tragedy. They are all so egocentric. I guess you have to be to be a surgeon.

Next morningHoly crap! I knew that Izzie and George might sleep together, Michael Ausiello had it as an item in his column, but Holy Crap!

How cute was that moment with the swing? To think that nail has been there since Mere was a little girl and no one knew it. Her mom was probably too busy to care. Mere thinks she just needs her “people”, but I would love to see a small relationship develop with her dad and step-mom.

Sleepy Saturday

Last night we went to our favorite restaurant for dinner with my parents. They have been in Cancun (for the 3rd time in a year; 4th in Mexico) and we were catching up.

Today we woke up with the alarm at 6 am, but then it was 8:00. I had a great deal of trouble waking up. I did get up, dragged myself to Weight Watchers (down 8 pounds!) to weigh-in, Dunkin Donuts for a Maple Cheddar Breakfast Sandwich and a White Hot Chocolate. We came home to eat (no gym today).

T went to help my dad to go do some plumbing and I tried to watch my soaps. I fell asleep several times and ended up sleeping from about 11:30 to 4:00. I still feel tired and funky, but we have to do box office for a show our theater company is producing. Otherwise, I think I would just go to bed.

Medium was really great this week.
