I could do with a good Fluffernutter right now

P1050289.JPG Is it really so hard to get a shelf tag right?  Especially when the product is right there?  I mean honestly.

Meanwhile, this made me remember it has been some time since I have had a Fluffernutter sandwich. (Which my spellcheck doesn’t think is a word, although it doesn’t seem to like “spellcheck” as a word either.)

A couple of years ago, for a “wellness” activity at school someone brought in cheap white bread (probably Wonder) and tons of peanut butter and Fluff.  I ate a few sandwiches that week.  I may have to get some on my next trip to the store.  And PB too, and white bread.  It is just not the same with “grind it yourself” PB and multigrain bread.

Someone asked in my Flickr comments if Fluff is really only sold in the Northeast.  Can anyone from “away” verify this?  I don’t remember looking for it when I was in Virginia and I have never really grocery shopped anywhere else.

Properly nouned

Last week we learned about Proper Nouns in Literacy. We play fun games when we learn Proper Nouns. Games that clearly do not teach them anything.

For example:

Me: I am going to name a common noun, a person, place or thing that is just regular. You need to give me an example of a special kind of that common noun that has a capital letter. Like, if I said, girl you would say Sarah. Okay? Name a kind of truck (4 rough and tumble boys and two girly-girls, I thought I was starting easy).

T-man: pick-up

Me: good start, but that’s not a name, that is a type. Anyone else?

Smart boy: garbage

Me: Still not quite. Does anyone have a truck at home? What is the name of the truck?

*crickets*

Girly-girl: I know one. Hess. A Hess truck.

Me: Okay. Let’s move on. How about the kind of car your mom drives?

Smart boy: Mini-van.

Me: Not quite. How ’bout the name of the mini-van?

Smart boy: I got nothing.

We moved onto stores and resturaunts. They are better at that.

Snow Day #1

Today is our first snow day of the school year.  We only get 3 (we got 5 when I was a kid), so I hope we don’t get a lot of snow this year.

I love snow days.  Most of my coworkers say they would rather get out a day early at the end of the year, but I would rather have a surprise day off in the middle of the year.  I have it in my mind that we are ending school on a certain day, so I am ready for that day.  Another day at the end of the year doesn’t mean anything to me.

I have felt a cold coming on for the last few days, and while I have a load of Airborne in the house I have done nothing about it.  I slept till 9:30 this morning and I feel so much better.  I bet I would feel even better if I took a shower, but I am too lazy.

My day will probably include web time, putting away clothes, scrapbooking, and planning for school.
